York Day Nursery, York County's first and longest operating child care center, is one of Pennsylvania's premier early learning centers. The Nursery, a longtime United Way of York County agency, has achieved the highest national and state recognition including:
- Accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children
- Designated a 4 STAR status- the highest performance level under PA's Keystone Stars Quality Initiative
The facility, located in downtown York, serves approximately 100 children, from six weeks old through age five. A low child-to-teacher ratio is maintained with 30 direct care educators. Over 80% of YDN students come from low-income, working families- a risk factor for school failure.
The Nursery's mission is to deliver the highest quality of early care and education possible- a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment vital for the healthy development of each student. The environment and child-driven curriculum are designed to develop the total child- emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually. We believe in the power of Great Beginnings for Bright Futures!
